Why Do We Do It? For individuals to take care of their personal and communities' responsibilities, they need to be aware of these responsibilities and be prepared to handle them skillfully. CLEGP believes that Literacy is not just the primary means to empower individuals to achieve socioeconomic independence and strive for intercultural justice, but that it plays a key role - it is the stepping stone in providing individuals with a critical thinking skill, global communicative skill, and spiritual growth tool. Literacy is also a confidence constructive force in facing the present and future challenges in the era of globalization.
CLEGP will strive to train and encourage its graduates to demonstrate a balanced approach toward life and social issues; to promote adult-youth and peer mentoring for self awareness, intellectual, socioeconomic, and spiritual growth; to encourage a high sense of quality of life by supporting and protecting a clean and healthier environment. All in all, as indicated in CLEGP's motto, high quality human relationship, active-world-citizenship, and lifelong learning spirit, can only be possible if serious attention is paid to community literacy with an ultimate goal to promote self-awareness, work-smart skill, and globalization. If literacy is nobody's priority today, it will be everybody's mediocrity tomorrow.
